Year 3 visit to Braintree Museum

Year 3 visit to Braintree Museum

On Tuesday 9th January, Year 3 visited Braintree Museum as part of our project entitled 'How did Early Man Change?', which covers the Stone Age to the Iron Age. The children had three fascinating workshops where they learned all about archeology, found out about ancient stone tools and completed a museum trail. They particularly enjoyed knapping their own hand axes out of bars of soap. The children will use what they learned about museums to help them create their own museums for parents and carers on the 14th of February. We were impressed by their excellent behaviour and effort, which was even praised by members of staff at the museum.

This was followed by a visit from a local expert, Mr Dickens, who came to talk to the children about how to make their museum appealing to an audience.
